Easter 2013

My parents came down to visit over Easter weekend this year, which was a nice treat. They arrived Friday evening, and the girls were late getting to bed, so they were able to see Grandma and Grandpa before finally heading to sleep.

On Saturday, we had an Easter egg hunt (with candy-filled plastic eggs) in the backyard with neighborhood friends, which was a lot of fun. And, thankfully, the beautiful weather held and the rain held off until just after everyone left to head home. It was perfect (except for probably too much chocolate consumption). Aveline caught on quickly to the whole "find eggs and put them in your basket" deal, and seemed to have a fun time. The sandbox was also very much enjoyed.

On Sunday morning, I hid Elsa's dyed Easter eggs around the inside of the house (since it was wet outside from the previous evening's rain). And I had their new Easter baskets laid out from the night before. We were late to church because of all the fun, and ended up in the back row, but we did make it. After church, we enjoyed a ham from Pine Street Market, along with some of my mom's famous cheesy potatoes and veggies.

After Elsa lucked out with another book reading from Grandma, she and Grandpa hit the road.

It was a busy and quick weekend, but very enjoyable. It was certainly nice to be able to spend the holiday at home, but still benefit from spending it with family. Thanks for the visit, Mom and Dad!
