We have had contractors in and out of the house over the past few weeks, working on a renovation of the built-in shelving unit in our living room. They finally wrapped things up yesterday, and we are very pleased with the results (the photos above are obviously before and after photos, though I have to admit that the change looks much more impressive in person). Our plan is to now place all of our electronics in the built-ins (the new drawers are for CD/DVD storage, which alleviates the need for a CD rack), which frees up a lot of space in our living room. We've already purchased a new love seat and a bow arm chair and have rearranged the seating arrangements, and it feels great. Now we're down to Jarrett having to re-run all of the wiring for the electronic components, as well as the installation of a ceiling fan, and then I think this room will be close to being finished. Oh! Except for the new coffee tabletop, which Jarrett has built. He is now in the staining stages, and it really has the potential to look awesome.
