The Friday after Avie started school was pretty darn hot, so we celebrated our last official day of summer break as a threesome (before Elsa was to start school on Monday) with a visit to a "sprayground" at Barber Park, here in Greensboro. The girls had a blast, and wanted to stay much longer than we could.
In this life we cannot do great things. We can only do small things with great love. -- Mother Teresa

Dog Days
Merckx had his teeth cleaned at the vet a few weeks ago, which ended up being more of an ordeal than I was expecting. It was the first time Merckx has experienced anesthesia, and it really took him awhile to come out of it completely and get back to normal. I think the girls were pretty concerned about him when we got him home and he couldn't really even get up out of the back of the car for me to get him into the house (of course, Jarrett was out of town on a business trip... why do these sorts of things always happen when he is away?). And then once I was able to lift him and carry him inside, he still could hardly walk. This photo is one of the first times Merckx made it outside, and he just seemed so happy sitting there in the grass. And I think Elsa was happy to see him getting back to his old self.
