Happy Thanksgiving

How can I help but be thankful for dear, dear friends who invite us over to their house despite the fact that they are incredibly sleep-deprived due to one very sweet little two-week-old boy, and provide for us this fabulous spread of food.

My parents came into town this morning and we spent the day around the house, preparing a few contributing items for the meal over at Tim and Kate's house -- green bean casserole, cheddar-sage biscuits, and pumpkin cheesecake with brown sugar bourbon whipped cream. We headed over to Tim and Kate's later in the afternoon and had a wonderful meal with them and Kate's parents and older sister, Krista. My and Kate's family have known each other since we met over 16 years ago (wow -- that's kind of scary to think about!), but now that we all live in different cities, we don't see each other very often, so it was fun to all come together, and our parents had a good time catching up with one another.

This Thanksgiving, I am thankful for so many things -- for my and my family's health, for Jarrett's job, for dear family and friends, for nature, for our home, for love. And, not least of all, for this beautiful little girl Jarrett and I are so privileged to watch thrive and grow.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
