The Heat Sets In

It is hot. It has been hot for over a week now. And it is that highs-in-the-90s, sun-beating-down-on-you, sweat-producing kind of heat. But that has not kept Elsa and myself from venturing outside. Our activities have just included a bit more water. We have been to McKoy Pool quite a few times already, have played in our own inflatable small pool in the yard (though the mosquitoes are already getting bad enough to prevent a lot of yard play, which drives me crazy), and we made it out to the Atlanta Botanical Garden with friends today. It was hot at the Garden, though in the shade it was actually quite nice, and the kids had the benefit of running around in the fountain in the Children's Garden in their bathing suits to cool off. Finnan, Jude, and Elsa did not last too terribly long in the water -- there were many kids (some accompanied by shrill screams), and I think it became a little overwhelming -- but they had fun while it lasted.

We also saw a butterfly, tadpoles, frogs, fish... and Elsa spotted this little guy as she was making her way up to the top of the slide:
