Weekend Update

Jarrett spent most of the weekend preparing areas in both the front and backyard with loads of top soil (thank you to Tim and Kate for letting us borrow their truck!) and compost, and then planting grass seed. He picked out a good shade variety, so we're hoping something grows. We shall see soon enough! I took some time yesterday and worked outside a bit myself. I spread some of the compost created by my fabulous birthday present for the first time, and also did some weeding. I probably still have about half of the front yard to go as far as weeding is concerned, and would like to get it done before the collection of shade-growing bulbs we purchased online arrives. The company we ordered from ships around the time the bulbs should be planted, and we are to receive them next month.



After all of the work around the house, we decided to do something fun and headed to the Avondale Estates AutumnFest. It was a gorgeous day -- perfect for strolling around and checking out all of the wonderful arts and crafts. We left with a good chunk of our Christmas shopping taken care of, and even picked up a few items for ourselves. Elsa seemed to enjoy being out and about, though wants to walk so desperately and really wanted nothing else other than us to hold onto her hands and walk with her the entire afternoon.
