Halloween

This Halloween, we had part of the Winnie the Pooh gang among us. Elsa was super excited to be Piglet, and Aveline was Tigger by default, as that is what Elsa was when she was Avie's age.

Our Halloween celebrations started out as they did last year, with the Enchanted Evening put on by Gabriela and Sara at Sara's house last Sunday evening. I did not have it in me to create a nursery rhyme scene this year, but instead enjoyed walking along the wooded, candlelit trail with Avie strapped to my chest and Elsa and Jarrett by my side, enjoying everyone else's scenes along the way. We had Humpty Dumpty (a favorite of Elsa's these days), Jack be Nimble, Four and Twenty Blackbirds, Old MacDonald, etc. It was indeed enchanting, and Elsa was quite into it this year.

Then on Monday evening, Halloween night, we went over to our friends' (The Roberts) house for a chili dinner and out for trick-or-treating afterward in their neighborhood. Elsa led the pack this year, running from door to door, asking, "May I have some more treats?" as each door was opened. She knew to say "Trick or treat," and did so at the houses where she was reminded, but was otherwise most concentrated on getting more treats in her pumpkin basket. It was a lot of fun seeing her run around and having so much fun with it all. We let her choose one piece of candy at the end of the evening, already past her bedtime, and of course she chose a lollipop. Smart girl, attempting to push off bedtime even further.
